Christmas Gift…? LCD TV 32″ and PS3 Slim Hands On! :D

Never thought that I could get 3 gadgets that I want to have right now just in 3 months… Digital camera, external hardisk, and LCD TV (though that not all of them come from my own money, but nevertheless, it’s part of my money). Digital camera…? Checked! External hardisk…? Checked! LCD TV…? Well, here it is! Checked!!!

First of all, sorry if all (if it’s not most of them) the images are not in good brightness/contrast/color since I took the photos quickly in the night without thinking about the result…

The new LCD TV is come from Sharp. It’s Aquos LC-32A37M (you can check the specifications here), which isn’t the newest product from Sharp (perhaps one of the oldest), and still HD READY not FULL HD, but for me it’s still way better than my old CRT TVs! If you want to know why I chose this instead of Samsung or even Sony, well, there are some reasons. First, my older brother (who lives in Japan) suggest it as Aquos is quite famous in there (as the number 1 LCD brand). Even Sony’s products use LCD from Sharp! Second reason is, 3 years warranty! It’s better than other brands who only give 1 or 2 years of warranty. Third is, well, it’s not as pricey as Sony and Samsung I guess, LOL.

Sharp Aquos LC-32A37M hands on!

What I like from Aquos is its color quality. Yes, it’s not as bright and sharp (funny, the brand is Sharp but the quality is not SHARP enough?) like Samsung LCD TV, but, it’s more natural. Aquos is famous for its natural color quality, and I like that one better. Why’s that? I’ve read some comments/reviews that Samsung is indeed has a bright, sharp, and crisp display, but, it hurt you eyes more. At first glance you might think, wow the image and color quality is great. But after you watch it for few hours non stop, it will hurt your eyes more than watching from Sharp Aquos TV or other brands. Some people said, Samsung is great for watching movies that will need you to stop watching after each 2 hours or so. That way will help your eyes to relax. But, what if you want to use it for gaming? Extreme gamer won’t stop playing until they dead (sarcasm, lol). In easy meaning is, Samsung is not quite fit for gaming. I don’t know wether that’s true or not, since I got the infos from other sources. Anyway, I just like the Aquos. My Playstation 3 games look great in it. Did I say PS3? Yes, now I have PS3! YAY! Read on, guys!

Playstation 3 Slim Hands On!

Before you ask, Playstation 3 is not in my list. Do I want PS3? Yes. Do I REALLY want PS3? Not really. I have some thoughts before get my hand of PS3. Before I have LCD TV, I never imagine that I would buy the PS3. PS3 is crap without HDTV. But since I intended to buy LCD TV (which support HD), I began to think about PS3. Before PS3 Slim published, I always think PS3 is not a console game. It’s too expensive, but I agreed that it’s a cool, elegant looking, and cheapest Bluray player that work as a game console too. That image dissappeared right away, when Sony published PS3 Slim for $299. What I saw in PS3 Slim is, it’s a console game! It’s not that expensive! And, wow, it can play Bluray movies too! PS3 Slim has a worse built quality I might say thought. Physically, it reminds me of PS2 body. Let’s talk about the games that PS3 have so far. I’m not quite impressed with the game list that PS3 have. I like Xbox360 games better, since it has lot of more RPG games (I’m a fan of RPG games). Not to mention that PS3 is still can’t be pirated (compared to Wii and Xbox360), so you can say I have to get the original one and the game is sooo priceyyy… It’s a big no no… But hey wait, my cousin also has PS3, and he successfully seduce me with his poisonus talks and suggestions. I know that I won’t be able to buy a lot of games in a year, but with my cousin around, we can combine forces (yeah cool words haha). What I meant is, we can trade games each others and that would be great I think. But wait, all of that sh*ts still not going to make me buy a PS3 right away. I only thinking to get it sometimes in 2010 perhaps.

And what made me to buy PS3 Slim in the end is… the price got lowered here in my country! When first published, even though Sony put $299 as price tag for PS3 Slim, here in my country (Indonesia, that’s it!), the price went higher to around $350-$400. Pricey indeed, and that’s normal here, who always got the price higher than usual. But, in December I got news that we can take PS3 Slim away to home in normal price ($299) which is a rare occassion! That’s a good news! (yeah the news also came from my cousin again, damn it, so poisonus bastard LOL) Usually, the price will went higher again when holiday come. It’s almost Christmas, so, yeah, I think it’s the best time to get it, is it not…?

What made me more surprised that my Mom also agreed and want us to buy it right away when she knew the price was lowered, before Christmas come and it become pricey again. Actually she already try to ask why we don’t want to buy PS3 before that a couple of times (and we replied a BIG NO and tell our reasons, read above paragraphs). Probably she wanted to use the moment when we began to think to buy PS3 before we change our minds again. Well, I don’t know about that, sometimes I just can’t understand what my Mom thinking. In the end, she bought it for us (thought I’m planning to pay it back in credit to her each months), and she said just think these as our Christmas Gift… So, I just, huraayyyy! Entering HD and Bluray world!

Now let’s talk about the game, shall we. Since it’s too pricey and limited games that I really like from PS3, I have a hard time to choose it. My cousin lend me two games at that time: Eternal Sonata and Metal Gear Solid 4. Well, these two games are enough to WOW me at first time playing PS3 in my home. But I don’t like MGS4 that much (since I’m not good at that genre), and perhaps RPG like Eternal Sonata is a little bit… off. It’s great, I’m willing to play it but maybe not now. I really want to enjoy my time in PS3. The game should have a high replay value so it won’t waste my money, and the game supposed to be PS3 exclusive (why I bought PS3 but playing game that also can be played in PC or Xbox360 that have a pirated version and cheaper as well?).

So in the end, after thinking quite a while, I bought my very first original PS3 BD game, Grand Theft Auto IV Region 2! Yes yes I know it’s not PS3 exclusive game… But I really want to play it! I really like a sandbox game like GTA, and since my PC is not good enough to play the PC version (and I don’t own Xbox360), I might try it in PS3! I really enjoy my time “killing” people and “destroying” stuffs in GTA IV. Really can help me release my stress and bore off, just like when I played older GTA series in PS2 back then. I’m sure GTA  IV won’t disappoint me that easily and have a very high replay value just like the old series.

Alright, maybe that’s enough for this PS3 and LCD TV introduction. I must say I’m satisfied with the TV and of course the PS3. Too bad that I don’t have time that much anymore, but it sure is a plus condition since it will take more time to end the game before buy a new one. I’m trying to enjoy my life with these new gadgets, so working all day with same routines won’t bore me off again. I’m off now, cya!

A little bit off here, I’m sad that I can’t play the original DVD of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children in PS3… It’s a region lock problem I guess, since I got it from my brother in Japan…
