Yes, finally!
After struggling for more than a week choosing a right digital camera as a replace of my old analog SLR that got stolen (with a limited budget), in the end I made my mind buy the Canon Powershot A2100 IS, instead of Canon Ixus 100 IS, which is also the strongest candidate that I want to buy back then (read the whole story here).
I have my own reasons why I chose Canon PS A2100 IS, and not the famous Ixus 100 IS.
- First of all, I want a budget camera, so cheaper would be better – since both of them has almost the same specs and features, I’d go for A2100 since it’s cheaper.
- Second, I really like the macro shot of A2100 which is able to take shot and get focus maximum at 1 cm near the object. Ixus 100 only able to take macro shot and get focus maximum at 3 cm near the object – another win for A2100.
- Third reason, PS A2100 has a bigger LCD (3 inches), while Ixus 100 only has 2.5 inches – another point goes for A2100.
- Fourth, I heard that PS A2100 has a better image quality than Ixus 100.
See? I don’t need a TOO compact digital camera (for me Ixus 100 is like a digicam for women/girls), and A2100 size and weight are fine for me – it’s still compact, compared to DSLR or prosumer camera. I don’t really need a HD quality video capture feature that Ixus 100 has, well, it’s nice, but I think it would be better if I get a handycam for that feature. So, congratulations, Canon Powershot A2100 IS! Now you’re belong to my gadgets family!

I bought it from the biggest forum community in Indonesia, Kaskus, for Rp 2.365.000,00 or about $ 230 – the camera unit (along with the warranty, a pair of AA batteries from Panasonic, 32 MB SD card, strap, USB cable, vidoe cable, CD-Rom, and manual book) + V-Gen 4GB SDHC + screenprotector for the LCD + delivery fee to my home (delivery warranty included). Overall it’s not that expensive, best for value I think…
Sample Photos
Right now it’s already at night so I must say I can’t provide a lot of good sample photos, PLUS, I’m totally a newbie. So, for now I’ll just show you some indoor macro shot that I took tonight. Oh, I won’t show the 100% size, all of them are resized (bigger image are heavier to load). I’ll try to take some photos tomorrow at outdoor and update it here.

One of my Gundam collection in my room

My little bro's Kamen Rider Blade S.I.C - wow so dusty!

My lovely iPhone 2G! ^^

Some random macro shots - hey you can see the pixels in the iPhone screen!

Oops, it's ME!
Well, I can’t say more since I haven’t fully tested it out. Wait for outdoor sample images tomorrow, I’ll updated here. For now, I’m impressed with this camera capability to take the macro shot up to 1cm near! It’s cool!
Now with this camera I can start to fill my MobileMe gallery and Flickr gallery with more photos and put it in my blog ^^
Alright, see ya tomorrow!
UPDATE!
I changed my mind and update the sample images in the new post here. ^^
