Which Digicam? Canon Ixus 95is, Fuji J250, Panasonic FX50 , or Sony DSC W130??

If you’ve read my previous post about gadgets that I want to have right now, you must have known that digital camera is one of them. And guess what? It seems that I will get it soon enough (well, that’s just my thoughts). How come? Haha, maybe it’s just a coincidence but oh well, let’s start the story for introduction first. ^^

Two days ago I remembered that I had a SLR camera (it’s a Canon, but I forgot which type, probably an EOS ELAN). Well, I bought it second hand three years ago, for photography assignments. I only use it for couple of times since it’s not a digital one and films cost a lot of money. Around that time my cousin want to borrow it and I lent it to him, since he knows better about photography and I know he will use it better than me. Waste of money? Probably, as for me, photography is just a hobby, and I prefer a digital one at that time (we were not permitted to use a digital SLR for that assignments, that was the reason I bought a manual one).

Yesterday I tried to contact my cousin again, asking about my SLR condition and want to have it back. I do have a plan to either use it again or sell it for money at that time. But he was very busy at that time and I can’t get any words from him. But this afternoon when I was in the middle of work, he called me, and gave me a shocking news. My SLR was STOLEN! O__O! He said it was stolen along with his bags when he travelled and it happened long time ago (he didn’t tell exactly when). He was so busy and forgot to inform me about this shocking news (or perhaps don’t want to shocked me or make me mad? I dunno…). Am I mad? Hmm, not really, since he is willing to replace it. Okay, that was the story behind it ^^

Right, he’s willing to replace my old SLR. I remember that I bought my stolen SLR for about Rp 2 millions, which means about $200, and he agreed to replace it for camera cost that much. He gave some choices: replace it with the same type (I know this is hard to do since it’s old model and yet there are a lot of better cameras to replace for), replace it with a second hand Digital SLR (it’s hard to find one with price about that), or replace it with cash. As far as I know, he likes SLR better than a pocket digital camera. But with that budget, I think it’s kinda hard to get a good digital SLR, even if it’s a second hand (as I’ve said above, I prefer a digital one). Another thing to consider, I will use the camera to take any pics that I think fit to post it in my blog or website, so a pocket one perhaps a better choice (it’s more practice, smaller, and easier to use).

With these thoughts in my mind, I try to search and asked around for tips, which pocket digital camera is good for me (really a noob beginner) that cost about Rp 2 millions or $200. And I got 4 recommended digital cameras that cost about that price from Indonesian biggest forum community, Kaskus:

From my own opinion, it seems Canon Ixus is the best of all, since it have a lot of features and 10 megapixels camera. But to be honest I don’t really like its design (from the pic, I like Sony DSC W130 most) so I need to see the real deal first to make my decision. As for Panasonic Lumix FX50, isn’t it an old product? From my quick search it was produced in 2006, that was 3 years ago! I prefer to chose FX500 that cost $50 more instead of this one. But I don’t know, I’m still green at this and right now I really need a lot of suggestions and of course do more deep researches. I will be glad and very happy if you could take just a moment to leave a comment to suggest me your opinions and perhaps a short review if you’ve experienced these cameras? Or perhaps you have another camera suggestions?

Updated: my friends suggest me to get either Canon Ixus 100 IS or Canon Powershot A2100 IS. Check it out at my next post! :)

Oh, if you want to know Panasonic Lumix FX500, here it is the picture.

      now it’s really a hard choice…
more compact, design and fashion = Ixus 100 IS (and don’t forget it can be used to capture video in HD 720p!)
more features and better image quality = A2100…

Maybe I will post it in a new blog post soon.

Judging from the specs above, I would suggest you to get the Canon ixus since it has bigger ISO and Megapixels.
Unless if you want to have a new camera with smaller megapixel than the latest camera phone. :p

Or the Fuji might be a good choice. It’s less popular, but from what I knew Fuji pocket cam is pretty good for taking low light pictures.
Just search for the pictures samples of each camera..

But wait for my next post (I’m in the middle of writing that post), I have 2 more Canon cameras that I like more, with more price too, of course… >.<
